Short version Atheon Mark — Web Highlighter (“Atheon Mark”) accesses webpage content only to provide its highlighting features. Highlighted text and webpage content are processed in the browser and are not sent to the developer or third parties. Atheon Mark does not sell user data and does not use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Atheon Mark — Web Highlighter (“Atheon Mark”), a Chrome extension for customizable webpage text highlighting. It explains what information the extension accesses, why it is needed, how it is handled, and what is not collected.

2. Website content

Atheon Mark needs access to webpage content so it can perform the functions requested by the user, including:

detecting selected text;
previewing, applying, changing, and removing highlights;
displaying the floating toolbar on webpages;
supporting highlight actions inside webpage frames where applicable.

Website content and highlighted text are processed in the user's browser for these functions. Atheon Mark does not transmit highlighted text or webpage content to the developer or to third parties.

3. Extension settings

Atheon Mark stores extension preferences using Chrome's extension storage. These preferences may include highlight styles, colors, text colors, opacity, profile order, shortcut preferences, language, theme, Text height mode, floating-toolbar settings, and other extension configuration.

These settings are used only to provide and remember the user's chosen Atheon Mark experience. They are not sent to an Atheon Mark server.

4. Data Atheon Mark does not collect

Atheon Mark does not collect or create a developer-side database of:

personally identifiable information such as names, email addresses, postal addresses, or identification numbers;
health information;
financial or payment information;
authentication information such as passwords or credentials;
personal communications;
precise or approximate location data;
web browsing history;
behavioral analytics, advertising profiles, or cross-site tracking data.

5. Analytics, advertising, and third parties

Atheon Mark does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics trackers. Atheon Mark does not sell user data and does not transfer user data to third parties for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

6. Remote servers and accounts

No Atheon Mark account is required to use the extension. The extension does not require an Atheon Mark backend service in order to provide its core highlighting functionality.

7. Data retention and deletion

Atheon Mark does not maintain a developer-controlled server database of highlighted webpage content. Extension preferences remain in Chrome's extension storage until they are changed, reset, removed by the user, or removed as part of uninstalling or clearing extension data through Chrome.

8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Atheon Mark's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data accessed through Chrome APIs is used only to provide or improve the extension's user-facing highlighting functionality.

9. Changes to this policy

If Atheon Mark's data practices materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or together with the relevant product update, and the “Last updated” date above will be revised.

4. Atheon Mark 不收集的数据

6. 远程服务器与账号

使用 Atheon Mark 不需要注册 Atheon Mark 账号。扩展的核心高亮功能不依赖 Atheon Mark 的后端服务器。

7. 数据保留与删除

Atheon Mark 不会在开发者控制的服务器上建立高亮网页内容数据库。扩展设置会保留在 Chrome 的扩展存储中，直到用户修改、重置、删除这些设置，或通过卸载扩展或清除扩展数据的方式移除。

8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
